CA. JOBBY GEORGE

Chairman

Dear Members,

Greetings from the Ernakulam Branch of SIRC of ICAI.

It gives me immense pleasure to present the June 2026 edition of our CA Journal.

Chartered Accountants: Pillars of Good Governance:

Good governance is built on transparency, accountability, integrity, and ethical conduct, and Chartered Accountants play a vital role in upholding these principles. Through financial reporting, auditing, taxation, assurance, and advisory services, they promote stakeholder confidence, strengthen internal controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and support informed decision-making. In an increasingly digital and dynamic business environment, Chartered Accountants continue to embrace innovation and evolving technologies to enhance governance standards and organizational resilience. Guided by the values of professionalism, independence, and integrity, they remain trusted partners in fostering sustainable growth and economic development. As the profession evolves, let us continue to uphold the highest ethical standards and reinforce our commitment to good governance, because strong institutions are built not merely on regulations but on trust, transparency, and professional responsibility.

June was a remarkable month marked by knowledge sharing, professional excellence, and member engagement. Our flagship Two-Day National Conference on Direct Taxes brought together distinguished speakers and over 500 members, providing valuable insights into the transition to the Income Tax Act, 2025, direct tax reforms, exemptions, and the evolving regulatory framework. The S.S. Ayyar Memorial Lecture, seminars on Standards on Auditing, the Code of Ethics, New Income Tax Return Forms, and the Companies Act, 2013 further strengthened our members’ technical capabilities.

A major highlight was the National Residential Refresher Course on “Empowering Members in Practice,” which focused on technology, automation, virtual CFO services, GST litigation, and building future-ready CA firms. We also successfully organised the ICAI MSME Mahotsav 2026, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the MSME ecosystem.

Beyond technical programmes, the Branch celebrated Environment Day, International Yoga Day, hosted a Joint Information Session with CPA Australia, conducted the Intra-Branch Indoor Sports Meet, and continued its engagement with newly qualified Chartered Accountants through the ICAI Convocation. These initiatives reflect our belief that professional excellence goes hand in hand with wellness, collaboration, and community service.

Our SICASA team once again demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm through the highly successful Encore 2026 Cultural Fest, income-tax seminars, Speakers’ Guild initiatives, orientation programmes, environmental activities, and career development events. Their energy and commitment continue to inspire us and strengthen the future of the profession.

None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the wholehearted support of our Managing Committee, SICASA leadership, faculty members, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, participants, and dedicated Branch staff. I extend my sincere gratitude to each one of you.

As we move forward, let us continue to embrace innovation, strengthen our professional competencies, uphold the highest ethical standards, and work together to create greater value for our members, the profession, and society.

Wishing all our members and students continued success, good health, and a rewarding professional journey.

Warm regards,

CA .Jobby George
