Dear Colleagues and Senior Members,

We all know India is right now in Stage II journey of Corona Virus ie., when the disease spreads through local transmission from those affected.  We are now moving on to Stage III where the disease is expected to spread in the community.  The Government and Health Department has advised us to be very vigilant and to be part of the campaign against Covid-19. As partner in National Building, we have to gear up for the fight against Covid-19, to limit Stage III spread of Coronavirus in the community.

The following interventions are suggested as a preventive measure in our offices and for members and students:

1

Make sure the environment we are in is always clean and hygienic . Surfaces (e.g. desks and tables) and objects (e.g. telephone, keyboards) need to be wiped with disinfectant regularly.

2

Promote regular and thorough hand-washing by employees, students and clients.

  • Put sanitizing hand rub dispensers in prominent places around   the office.
  • Make sure that staff, students and clients have access to places where they can wash their hands with soap and water.
  • Put up posters projecting the importance of cleanliness and hand washing.

3.

Promote good respiratory hygiene in the workplace

      • Display posters promoting respiratory hygiene.
      • Ensure that face masks and / or paper tissues are available at your workplaces, for those who develop a runny nose or cough at work, along with closed bins for its hygienic disposal.
      • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Cover mouth and nose with bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze.

4

Advise staff and students / article assistants  not to travel unless it is urgent.  Travel should be allowed only with adequate precaution. Encourage staff / article assistants to work from home wherever feasible.

5

Brief your staff, students / article assistants and clients that if COVID-19 starts spreading in your community, anyone with even a mild cough or low-grade fever (37.3 C or more) needs to stay at home and take preventive medicine.  Display posters with this message in office.  Explain to staff and students that they will be able to count this time off as sick leave.

6

Hold as many meetings as possible by audio-visual link or other remote means, thereby minimising face to face meetings.

7

Undertake only urgent assignments.

8

No large group visits or gatherings should be permitted at this time.

9

Maintain social distancing: Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between staff/students and anyone who is coughing or sneezing

10

If the staff / students have fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, advise them to seek medical care early and allow them to stay at home, if they feel unwell.

It is our bounden duty and responsibility as citizens to support the Government and Health Department in their effort to prevent the spread of Corona Virus in the community.  We earnestly request you to take part in the “Janata Curfew” called for by our Prime Minister on Sunday 22nd March 2020, from 7 am to 9 pm and express our solidarity with the Government in the fight against this pandemic.

Let us all work together and “Break the Chain” and prevent COVID-19 spreading.

With warm regards,

CA. Roy Varghese
