Respected senior professionals, dear colleagues, friends and beloved students
With the passing of the season of tax audits and tax returns filings, I am sure my colleagues will be much relieved and relaxed by now. As it is every year, now is perhaps the time to update ourselves with the new developments in accounting, audit and taxation and we at Ernakulam Branch are all ready to give you a feast of knowledge.
Yes, it’s time to rejuvenate, rejoice, unlearn and relearn as we bring to you the most awaited event of the year, the All Kerala Conference, “Navaratna”, organised by all the nine branches of Kerala and proudly hosted by the Ernakulam Branch of SIRC of ICAI. I am sure all of you would have received the e-brochures and posters by email and WhatsApp. “Navaratna”, as you know is a Two Day Event and we bring to you stalwart speakers from across the country. CA. Kamal Garg from New Delhi, CA. Ganesh Prabhu from Chennai, CA. Anand Prakash Jangid from Bengaluru, CA. P.G. Subramaniam from Bengaluru, CA. (Dr.) Girish Ahuja from New Delhi, CA. Chinnasamy Ganeshan from Chennai CA. (Adv.) Nipun Singhvi from Ahmedabad and our own member CA. Jomon K George from Ernakulam will present papers on various topics of interest and relevance. We seek your support and blessings for a smooth conduct and success of the event.
Even though October was a hectic month, the Branch managed to conduct some very good events. On 10th October, 2023 we conducted a very important CPE Workshop on Law, Practice and underlying compliance risks relating to Annual Filing under the Companies Act, 2013 and Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008. CA. Shawn Jeff Christopher, IP and CA. Nitin.N, RV & Social Auditor presented the papers. ICAI Bhawan, Ernakulam witnessed a full house session and the value addition provided by the eminent speakers were much appreciated by the members who attended the workshop.
Yet another very important session, an evening CPE Seminar on Taxation of Charitable Trusts – Recent Developments and New Forms 10B and 10BB was handled by eminent speaker from Kottayam CA. Prasanth Srinivas. This was a much needed session considering the recent amendments and complexities in filing of Form 10B and 10BB. Once again we witnessed a packed house and the session was immensely useful for all those who attended.
The SIRC – Regional Conference “Jnana Sampanna” was successfully conducted at Hosapete (Near Hampi), Karnataka under the able leadership of our SIRC Chairman CA. Panna Raj. Conducting a conference of this magnitude in a small town is not an easy task. The conference was well attended by many Chartered Accountants across the country and members of Ernakulam Branch of ICAI, along with the Managing Committee members too made their presence visible and noteworthy. The logo of the upcoming “Navaratna” conference was unveiled at the SIRC conference venue by the President of ICAI CA. Aniket Sunil Talati along with the Vice President CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal and Chairman of SIRC of ICAI CA. Panna Raj. All the nine Chairpersons of the nine branches of Kerala were present.
At the SIRC Conference, Ernakulam Branch of SIRC of ICAI received the awards for the Best Branch in the Mega Category for the council year 20220-23. The students wing, Ernakulam Branch of SICASA was also awarded the Best Branch of SICASA in the Mega Category for the council year 2022-23. Hearty congratulations to our Past Chairman CA. K.V. Jose and Past SICASA Chairman CA. Suresh Gopinath for bringing glory to the Ernakulam Branch by this wonderful achievement.
The Certificate Course on Ind AS in physical mode commenced at ICAI Bhawan, Ernakulam on the 28th of Oct, 2023. The batch is complete with 30 participants and the feedback that we have received so far has been excellent. We wish all the best to all the participants for successful completion of the course.
