The First Branch of the Southern India Regional Council of ICAI in Kerala, the Ernakulam Branch, was set up on 1st December 1967. It is the largest Branch in the State with more than 1500 members and more than 5000 students. The Ernakulam Branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, (ICAI) has recognized with the  “ALL INDIA AWARD OF HIGHLY COMMENDED  PERFORMANCE" in large branch category for the year 2012.   The  award  was received by CA P.P.Mathukutty, Chairman, Ernakulam Branch of SIRC of ICAI along with the Managing Committee Members of the Ernakulam branch in the 63rd Annual Function held on 11th February, 2013 at the  Convention Hall, Hotel The Ashok Diplomatic Enclave, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.  Shri Sachin Pilot, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Corporate Affiars  was the Chief Guest of the function.

The Branch has conducted a host of activities throughout the year  which included National Seminars, Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Lecture Meeting , Study Circle Meetings , Residential Seminars for its members and students on various subjects of professional interest.  The branch has also organised various Certificate Courses , sports  activities, cultural events and social gatherings for its members.   The branch further takes initiatives in organizing programs for public at large on economic issues concerning the common man by associating with various non-professional bodies.  As done in the past comments on Pre and Post Budget Suggestions, Exposure Drafts were also submitted during the year. The Ernakulam Branch is the only branch in Kerala which is having the facility on its website for online registration of programmes / seminars / coaching classes for the members and students.
The students wing at Ernakulam Branch- SICASA, Ernakulam - also bagged the All India Best Student Association Award 2012. It was received by CA. Jayeme  K P , Chairman SICASA, Ernakulam in the same Annual function of ICAI . This is the 14th year in succession that the Ernakulam Branch - SICASA  is bagging the All India Best Student Association Award.
The Hon’ble President of ICAI CA. Jaydeep Narendra Shah and the Hon. Vice President CA. Subodh Kumar Agrawal also addressed the function attended by CAs from all over the country.
